Biography

Jay R, known as the King of R&B in the Philippines, is a multi-platinum artist, producer, and creative visionary celebrated for his smooth vocals, soulful sound, and original artistry. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, his passion for music began early—performing with The Howlers alongside his sister Jhing under the mentorship of their uncle Bob. He later refined his skills with the boy band First Impression before launching a successful solo career.

After relocating to Manila, Jay R’s debut album Gameface achieved double-platinum success, cementing his status as a pioneer of Filipino R&B. He followed it with a series of acclaimed releases including Soul in Love, OPM Love Classics, and Elevated, earning multiple gold and platinum certifications. His music continues to thrive with over 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

In addition to music, Jay R has been a trusted face for top brands such as Colgate, Tropicana, and Bench. Expanding his creative footprint, he recently executive produced the feature film Songs for Selina, a musical drama that premiered on Amazon Prime Video US in 2025—marking a milestone for Filipino-led independent cinema.
